Après que la projection d'un film au Cinéma Cartier ait été annulée, mais aussi qu’une conférence du PQ à l'Université Laval, qui réunissait des panélistes aux opinions divergentes, ait également fait l'objet d'une tentative d'annulation, on apprenait avec consternation aujourd’hui que la librairie qui a permis le lancement du livre de mon adversaire Éric Duhaime est à son tour visée par des actions d'annulation et de boycottage. Pour faire suite au texte de mon collègue @pascalpparadis , sur cette libraire située dans la circonscription de Jean-Talon, je souligne l’extrait suivant de l'article du Devoir qui m'a interpellé : « Le plus triste, c’est une enseignante au collégial qui commandait ses livres chez nous pour les étudiants chaque session, qui a clairement évoqué le fait que c’était terminé pour la suite et qu’elle n’enverrait plus jamais ses étudiants acheter ses livres chez nous ». Cet extrait doit nous amener à réfléchir sur le recul constant de la liberté d'expression face à des mouvements radicaux. Ces derniers, qui se réclament de la justice et qui nous préviennent eux-mêmes d’une montée potentielle de l’autoritarisme, sont précisément ceux qui en réalité imposent par l’intimidation un conformisme idéologique et une vision du monde intolérante et autoritaire. Il faut aussi se poser de sérieuses questions sur l'environnement actuel de nos jeunes. Nous devons nous assurer qu'il encourage la tolérance face aux opinions contraires et le débat respectueux. Cela signifie valoriser la qualité de l'idée et des arguments plutôt que de stigmatiser l'adversaire. Je n'ai pas toujours eu des éloges pour Éric Duhaime, mais s'il souhaite publier un livre sur l'autonomisme—une doctrine que nous pouvons critiquer abondamment après 8 ans d’autonomisme caquiste qui ont démontré son échec —il est essentiel qu'il puisse le faire en toute liberté et en toute sécurité. Je serai ravi de débattre avec lui sur la base de faits et d’arguments, et non sur la base de la haine et de tentatives de l'ostraciser et de l'annuler. Je félicite donc Éric Duhaime pour son nouveau livre, et je tiens surtout à souligner le courage et la cohérence de la librairie dans cette démarche. Peu importe que la menace envers notre démocratie provienne d'un extrême ou de l'autre, notre devoir demeure de préserver les fondements de la paix sociale et du débat démocratique, toujours et sans aucune exception.
