It was wonderful to be able to hold a meeting of the Year 9 Book Club who are such lovely keen readers. Their enthusiasm for reading continues amid Covid restrictions. Lots of book borrowing going on.

Very exciting to have two new books by Old Owenian authors Emma Everitt-Story and Holly Smale in the Library. @everittemma's second book in the Samantha Drury series, Emotional Ghost Train. @HolSmale 's second book in her Valentine's series: Far From Perfect. Brilliant authors.

So pleased the Year 9 are using our fantastic collection of books on WW1 as well as the Internet for their WW1 research, which they are having to do in the classroom instead of the Library. We keep taking the library out to the students when they can't come in.

Covid makes us into mobile librarians! Not quite the van full of books as in the Uncommon Reader; but taking the books to students in their "bubbles" enables us to take the library to those who can't come to us. Good exercise too.

Student: "When most people go into libraries, they see books and only hear silence. But when I go in I see shelves upon shelves of worlds to enter. I feel that no matter how big or small the library is, I'm still in my comfort zone and a chance to discuss your view on books".

"Over lock down I set up a mini community library which delivered books to the most vulnerable people in my area. Many people commented to say it was a total life line and they looked forward to receiving their new books each week."

My first and best ever Saturday job was working in a library and I loved it. The first hour every day was always shelving and I remember waiting to see which one of us would be sorting out the children’s section. All looked so good for about three minutes after the doors opened
