The series of statements President Trump made to the media yesterday on #Iran--telling Netanyahu not to attack--laid the predicate for him to put out a Truth Social post like this, acting like the UN. It puts distance between the U.S. and Israeli strikes, while sending a message to Tehran that Israel will act on its own. But it is very unlikely Israel undertook its retaliatory strike in direct contravention of the president's instructions. Private coordination much more likely.

@mark_elian_ Lebanon's data is inaccurate. As the WPR states, the year it analyzed ENP for Lebanon is 1976!
@levantophile Given the way things are going, I wouldn't discount Iran's influence in Lebanon just yet. Iran is strongly committed to Hezbollah, just as Hezbollah clings to its arms. I believe this will remain the defining fault line in Lebanese politics for the foreseeable future.
