Very much agreed, we are exploring in parallel brain glucose metabolism, as biological marker, as well as test the efficacy of ketogenic nutrition in different weight groups, and have also started studying the effects of exogenous ketones and behavior effects.

@JoshuaTGaines @GuidoFrank @UCSDMedSchool Great thought! We are still working to understand the exact mechanisms but this is essentially the theory that Dr. Frank has proposed. It would be interesting to see what role exogenous ketones could play, and future research can address this.

New study offers hope for anorexia nervosa. The first-ever pilot trial of ketogenic therapy for anorexia nervosa was just published. Here's what @GuidoFrank and his research team at @UCSDMedSchool found. 🧵

A pilot study published today in @CommsMedicine demonstrates the potential for a new approach to treating anorexia nervosa. The research from @UCSDMedSchool, led by @GuidoFrank, reports that a ketogenic nutritional intervention was feasible and safe for patients with weight-normalized anorexia nervosa.
