Today is National Heat Awareness Day. Whether you're working outdoors or doing some weekend gardening - safety requires much more than SPF. Beat the heat with these cooling tips: ☀️ Stay indoors where it's cooler 🥵 Keep hydrated. Drink water 😎 Wear light colored clothing ☀️ Avoid strenuous activities 🥵 Limit sun exposure. Wear at least 15 SPF ☀️ Look for signs of heat sickness (headache, nausea, dizziness, excessive sweating, high body temp, cramping, etc.)

On Friday, May 8, 2026, the Electrical Training Center opened its Bellport Campus, equipped with five modern classrooms/labs showcasing flat screens, whiteboards, and desktop computers. They intend to serve as a pipeline to build the next generation of electrical workers for Long Island. The renovation project received a Main Street Revitalization grant and is in the process of applying for our Vacant Space Revival program – all part of our Business First commitment to Long Island!

9:45 PM STORM UPDATE: Tonight's storm has downed trees, branches and wires, affecting more than 10,700 of 1.2 million electric customers across Long Island and the Rockaways. As of 9:30 PM, power has been restored to more than 8,100 customers. As of 9:41 PM, 2,529 customers are without power. Outages are scattered across the service area. Crews will work throughout the night safely and as quickly as possible until all outages are restored. 🚨OUTAGE TIP: For the up-to-date outage information, crew location and estimated times or restoration visit the MyPower map @ psegliny.com/outages or in our mobile app.

Today, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and PSEG Long Island announced the launch of the first phase of public engagement for the 2027 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), a comprehensive planning effort to evaluate how Long Island and the Rockaways can continue to receive reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy in the years ahead. Customers, stakeholders, and interested members of the public can access information on the IRP process, the draft project scope, and public comment opportunities by visiting LIResourcePlan.com. Public comments on the draft scope will be accepted through June 30, 2026.
