While washing clothes in hot water can damage some fabrics and cause them to shrink or fade, 90% of the energy used by a washing machine goes toward heating the water. By washing clothes in cold water, you can reduce your energy usage and save money.
Peak energy use is the times of day when electricity consumption is at its highest. Think about the times you and your family are most active – watching TV, running the dishwasher. If many others follow the same pattern, there's higher demand for electricity during those times.

Save money by running your dishwasher, clothes washer or dryer, and even oven early or late in the day. And always run them with full (but not overfull) loads. This kind of planning can help you save electricity and also help reduce burden on the grid during peak hours.
We need to electrify everything. Electric vehicles and appliances reduce pollution and our reliance on fossil fuels. Induction stoves are more energy efficient and reduce indoor air pollution. Heat pumps keep our homes comfortable while saving on energy bills.
To save on summer energy bills, minimize indoor-outdoor temperature difference. Increase thermostat by 7°-10°F for 8 hours daily to save up to 10% on HVAC costs annually. Adjust nightly and when away for hours.

To save energy with your oven: 1. Limit pre-heating to necessary times. 2. Keep the oven door closed to prevent temperature drops. 3. Clean the door seal for better heat retention.
Leaving fridge doors open wastes 7% energy, as cold air escapes, replaced by warm air. Each open-close cycle consumes 50-120kWh yearly, increasing bills and environmental impact.
Monitor your energy usage anytime with the Sense Home app. Analyze peaks and dips by zooming in on second-by-second activity or zoom out for monthly consumption patterns.
Save energy by using cold water in your washer and lower heat in your dryer. Air dry clothes to further reduce electricity usage, cutting monthly bills significantly.
Save energy and money by turning off lights when not in use. Replace incandescents with LEDs for more efficiency. If leaving a room for over 15 minutes, switch off lights.
A few simple changes that can help you eliminate energy hogs in your home include: Plug all of the components of your computer into a power strip. Then, flip the strip off when you're done using it. Do the same for your TV and other home entertainment devices.
