Parsley has officially made it to the field! 🌱 After getting their start in the greenhouse, these seedlings are now being carefully transplanted into the soil where they’ll continue growing throughout the season. From seed to harvest, every step is handled with care on the Standard Process Certified Organic Farm, and transplant days are always a reminder of how much planning and teamwork goes into the season ahead. The Mountain Spinach seeds we planted back in March are coming up strong and showing their beautifully vibrant colors, which means it’s time to take them from the safety of the greenhouse for their first exposure to the elements. The farm team moved all trays out to wagons so the plants can harden off before transplanting in the fields. Last fall, we purchased new land that’s now in transition to become part of our certified organic farm. This process takes three full years before the land can be certified and used organically. For the first half, we grow winter wheat, a low-maintenance crop that creates a thick grass, helping naturally crowd out weeds. We also use tools like our tine weeder to manage weeds without the use of synthetic herbicides. After the wheat, we continue to transition the land by planting cover crops and applying organic compost to build soil health and fertility. On August 5th, 2027, this field will achieve organic status with MOSA, the second-largest organic certifier in the United States, and will begin growing nutrient-dense, organic ingredients for your favorite Standard Process products. #StandardProcess #OnlyAtSP #SPFarmFriday #OrganicTransition

A healthy farm shows itself by who shows up. This week, cranes in the fields reminded us what’s possible when land is truly cared for. Our team has also been building owl houses to give these important predators a safe place to call home. Our certified organic farmland does more than grow crops. It supports thriving ecosystems. On average, organic farms are home to about 50% more wildlife, according to the Soil Association.
