@alisha_hg Thats a horribly inefficient waste of time. You probably end up spending close to 5 hours just in grocery stores every week if you do this (nevermind the extra hours spent walking there and back as well), when you add up shopping+waiting in line. I'd rather just do 2-3 weeks

The federal court did not say Alabama drew the wrong lines. It said Alabama intentionally discriminated against Black voters, violated the 14th Amendment, and likely violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The 2025 ruling called the Section 2 claim "not a close call." Alabama lost. Drew a new map. Lost again. Now it has asked the Supreme Court to block the federal court ruling entirely - which would eliminate the second majority-Black congressional district and remove Rep. Shomari Figures from a seat he won under the court-ordered map. This is the pattern Hardy is describing and it is worth stating plainly. Alabama was told its map was an intentional racial gerrymander. It drew another one. It was told that map also violated federal law. It appealed to the highest court in the land asking to use the illegal map anyway. The question before the Supreme Court is not really about district lines. It is about whether a state can be found in intentional violation of the 14th Amendment, lose in court repeatedly, and still prevail through sheer institutional defiance while the legal process runs out the clock on another election cycle. Selma is not a metaphor. It is a geographic fact. The Edmund Pettus Bridge is still there. The people who marched across it in 1965 were beaten because they wanted the right to vote. The fight Anneshia Hardy is describing in 2026 is not distant from that history. It is continuous with it. Same state. Same question. Different mechanism.

I worked at CBS News for almost 6 years. It was a place that frequently drove me crazy bc of how resistant it was to change. How difficult it was to get things done bc you had to fight so many people and their “Cronkite and Murrow would roll over in their graves if they saw” mentality. For those who think Scott Pelley was part of the problem, you are wrong. Yes he could be rigid and a stickler for certain traditions. But I will tell you now the Gen Z people I worked w all loved him. Like me, they forgave a lot of his boomer ways bc we were in awe of investigations he did using hidden cameras exposing snake oil salesmen hurting Americans; showing us how Assad was using chemical weapons on his own people; the pain of rural Americans waiting for half a day to get affordable healthcare in a parking lot of a mobile clinic; his searing interviews w survivors of mass shootings. Yeah he was old fashioned in some ways. I used to tease him bc he always had trouble pronouncing Beyoncé’s name. But he was willing to be pushed. He was open to new ideas. The fact that someone like me and someone like him got along so well is proof of that. The guy made me a better thinker and a better journalist.

Sometimes I forget how "normies" see the world. There are people out there that believe "consumers just decided to switch to streaming and give up physical media". Youtube lost money for a decade before it made a profit. Spotify lost money for 17 years. None of this is accidental or organic. People didn't "choose" these systems. They outright rejected them for literally decades while these systems operated at a loss that made competition with them impossible, funded by people who wanted to change the world into what we have now. A system where you own nothing, consume whatever is offered on-demand and nothing else, and you have no privacy or anonymity. Netflix killed Blockbuster with by-mail PHYSICAL MEDIA at a loss. The entire time they were eating Blockbuster's business they were losing money. After Blockbuster died, Netflix phased out physical media and I remember the severe backlash, but the choice was streaming or nothing. Still many (maybe most) people just cobbled together private collections from bargain bins and garage sales. Netflix continued to lose money....10 BILLION dollars of loses in the 2010s even after Blockbuster went out of business. Understand the truth, that a cabal of global institutional investors funded companies that nobody wanted for literally decades at a cost of untold billions of dollars....until there was NOTHING ELSE LEFT for you to use.

🚨BREAKING: The Secretary of Homeland Security just admitted, on camera, that he is going to violate your First Amendment right to free speech. He said, “I have ZERO tolerance. If you verbally assault our officers… we will find you, we will arrest you.” Except… that’s not how the First Amendment works. Unless someone is making a credible threat of violence, speech… even rude, angry, or insulting speech… is still protected. That’s the whole point of a free speech clause… to protect the people from situations where those in power don’t like what’s being said. So, when a top federal official starts framing “verbal assault” as something you can be arrested for, without clearly defining it as an actual threat… It stops sounding like protecting officers, and starts sounding like a government trying to silence people who speak out against it.

🚨BREAKING: In Columbus, Ohio, ICE agents hit a U.S. citizen’s vehicle, and then admitted, on camera, that they “do this all the time”… before driving away. A 17-year-old U.S. citizen was reportedly on his way to church, when multiple officials surrounded his car, backed into his front bumper, and jumped out of their vehicles. When he rolled down his window, they told him… “We got the wrong person.” And walked back toward their cars. The 17-year-old got out to document what happened, and told an officer they had hit his vehicle… And the response was: “You can take a picture if you want. We do this all the time. You’re okay.” And then they drove off. The Fourth Amendment protects you from unreasonable searches and seizures. And courts have made clear that a “seizure” isn’t just being arrested, or put in handcuffs. It also includes situations where law enforcement use their authority in a way that blocks your freedom to leave… or creates an intimidating, forced encounter. So, when officers surround a car, hit it while backing up, and pull a teenager into a sudden law enforcement interaction, with no valid reason… At minimum, it’s a reckless stop. At worst, it’s an unlawful seizure, with property damage, and no accountability. And then there’s the part when she casually said… “We do this all the time.” Because that turns an “oops” moment into a pattern. And when that pattern violates your constitutional rights and due process, it starts to feel a lot like the government is using the Constitution like they use the Bible… Quoted when it’s useful, ignored when it isn’t.
