At least 21 people were killed and more than 40 others rescued after a massive fire broke out at a hotel building in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning, triggering panic as thick smoke engulfed the premises. Officials said the blaze occurred at the establishment known as Flourish Stay B&B, which reportedly operated under the Delhi government’s Bed and Breakfast scheme. Several of those killed are reported to be foreign nationals, mainly from Central Asian and African countries, many of whom had reportedly come to Delhi for medical treatment. Authorities said the death toll could rise as several injured persons remain in critical condition. More than 40 people were rescued during the emergency response. Firefighters and police launched a major rescue operation after the blaze spread rapidly through the building. In Kalyan, a confrontation broke out between Buddhist monks and civic authorities after a demolition drive targeted parts of the Buddha Bhoomi Foundation complex in Ashok Nagar, Waldhuni, on May 30. The demolition was carried out by the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation with bulldozers, JCB machines, and cranes amid heavy police deployment. Officials reportedly linked the action to an ongoing infrastructure project, including flyover construction. Structures affected allegedly included Buddhist stupas, memorial installations, monks’ residences, and other sections of the complex. In Khoda, Ghaziabad, the in-charge of Madrasa Rahmania Arabia Qasim-ul-Uloom alleged that when officials arrived to seal the madrasa, they attempted to show documents related to the institution, but were not allowed to retrieve them from a locker inside the premises. He further claimed that several children were inside the madrasa at the time, including orphans and students from poor families. According to eyewitness accounts, some children were crying and shouting during the sealing process as they allegedly had no immediate way to leave the building. The allegations come after local authorities sealed multiple madrasas in the area, citing lack of official recognition and illegal operation. Administrative officials have not publicly responded to these specific claims regarding the presence of children or access to documents during the sealing process.

In Patna, large numbers of students gathered outside the coaching institute of educator Khan Sir, raising slogans in his support a day after an alleged attack and vandalism at the centre. With classes reportedly suspended, students assembled in a show of solidarity. According to police, an incident of stone-pelting and property damage took place at the Khan Global Coaching Institute in the Kadamkuan area on Tuesday night. Reports said some unidentified men allegedly entered the premises, assaulted a security guard, and vandalised parts of the institute. The injured guard was admitted to hospital for treatment. Khan Sir, whose real name is Faisal Khan, also alleged that firing took place during the incident, though police said they had not confirmed this claim. Authorities stated that an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify the accused through CCTV footage.
